✍️ Reflections From My Practice - When Should I Start Paying Attention

One thing I've learned over the years is that parents are often worried about asking questions too soon. They're concerned they'll be judged, dismissed or told to "wait and see."

Sometimes waiting is appropriate.

Sometimes asking earlier opens the door to support that makes a real difference.

I've never believed that noticing something means you should expect the worst. I believe it means caring enough to look closely, stay curious and seek understanding.

Some of the most positive outcomes I've seen have begun with a parent saying,

"I've noticed something… can we talk about it?"

Those conversations aren't about finding labels.

They're about making sure children have every opportunity and appropriate support to flourish and fulfil their potential.

I'd love to know...

What has experience taught you about the importance of listening to concerns with curiosity?
