🌿 Reflections From My Practice - The Pause

Some of the moments I'm most proud of in my career weren't the times I found the perfect strategy.

They were the moments I chose not to rush.

There have been occasions when every instinct told me to respond immediately, yet taking a single breath and giving myself permission to pause changed everything.

That pause helped me notice a child's fear instead of their behaviour.

It helped me hear what wasn't being said.

It reminded me that children often need our calm before they can find their own.

I've learned that a pause isn't about delaying action.

It's about making space for understanding.

Those few seconds can be the difference between reacting to behaviour and responding to the child behind it.

This week, I wonder...

What difference might one intentional pause make in your day?
