From a young age, my family lived in, and travelled to many countries across the world, experiencing different cultures and traditions. Whilst this was a great experience, and we now have friends and family around the world, as a child, the frequent house moves, changing schools, and losing touch with friends, made life unpredictable and unsettling. As I have gone on to have my own children and worked in the early years sector for many years, I have come to understand how important it is for a child to have a secure home environment and that a child needs to trust and have a feeling of well-being to thrive. My purpose is to help families provide their children with a nurturing environment. This will then support the children to develop their resilience and self-esteem, giving them the best start in life. This has led to the creation of Early Years Development International. We believe that the early years of a child’s life are too important and are determined to make a difference in children’s lives.
My early years career began over 25 years ago, initially running a toddler group then volunteering in a pre-school and primary school. I went on to manage a pre-school for several years which achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted. At that time, I decided to try something different. I became an Early Years Family Support Specialist (Portage Home Visitor) in the UK for 10 years, working with families with children with Special Educational Needs.
Following a move across the country, I became an Early Years Development & Learning Specialist catering to families in the U.K. and U.A.E., who have concerns about their babies and children and with children who have Special Educational Needs. I have also been running Early Years’ Movement and Play Workshops and Parenting with Confidence Workshops, providing parents and practitioners with techniques and strategies on how to support baby and toddler development and how to create a nurturing environment that will enable children to fulfil their potential.
My most recent volunteering role was for the National Childbirth Trust UK, running their Bumps, Babies and Beyond Group and I currently volunteer with Home-Start UK, providing support for families with children under 5, who are going through challenging times.
